Artist Statement 2023-2024 3D High School Portfolio
“I have focused on exploring a variety of artistic techniques in my work. I use color as a way to symbolize the important people in my life. For instance, my father is represented by the color orange, my youngest sister is yellow, my former stepmother is pink, and I depict myself as light blue. My middle sister is purple, my aunt is green, and my grandmother is wine red. My goal has been to create a diverse collection of pieces that, while seemingly unrelated, all share a cohesive style and convey a similar message. This is achieved through the consistent use of color and the symbolic representations of the different phases and relationships I've experienced over the past 18 years.”
This is my completed portfolio for the 2023–2024 college board exam.

Growing up in an unhealthy home situation, the nets at the base represent being suffocated and stuck in a home with my alcoholic father.
Butterfly represents me and the ladybug, my sister's nickname, represents her in this piece.
Relationship with a parent, being stuck and wrapped into your parent's problems, and trying to fight back.
This was my first piece for AP 3D, before this class, I had little to no experience with making sculptures.
There is a lot of restriction living with an alcoholic.
I was in survival mode living with my dad before he left. The three fish represent my dad, his sister, and his mom, always swarming ready to attack.
